".....and, we're walking...."

Yes, Grandpa and I are still walking even though the weather has gottin a bit nippy. Yesterday we thought we would try going to Walmart and walking in the store to get our walk in. Well, that didn't work because we kept stopping to look at stuff and if I don't keep walking, my back starts to bother me so that idea was tested and failed. We don't have an indoor shopping center nearby to walk in so we are sort of out of luck there too. I find myself frustrated because I think I'm now addicted to walking and if I don't get out and walk in the morning, I start to pace and get restless and cranky. Personally, I don't think I would like a treadmill because I'm not 'going' anywhere and I like the fresh air....so, that leaves only one solution.  Pile on more clothes and head out into the cold.

Yesterday, after trying Walmart by 11:30, I was pacing and told Grandpa that I miss walking outside so he said..."then, let's do it". So, we piled on the clothes. Being that it was like 8 degrees with the windchill factor, we had to add a layer or two more to keep warm but it was still worth it!  I now am bundled up so much from my neck up with scarves over my face and around my neck that I can't turn my head. And, because I have a scarf over my mouth and nose, my glasses steam up and then I can't see which makes it a little hazardous because some inconsiderate neighbors around the block don't think they have to shovel when it snows. So, the sidewalks can be a bit slick and I really don't like the chance of slipping and falling so we have to be very careful.....but, I still say it's worth it.

I never thought I would crave exercise more at the age of 60 than I did when I was younger, but I'll go with it....at least, it helps keep the weight off that I worked so hard to loose and gets the heart pumping which, as we keep hearing, is what you need to do.....get the heart rate up.

I just wish it wouldn't take so long getting dressed to get out there and then to undress when we get back.....but I guess I can't complain because that alone is a good workout!
