How did it start....when does it stop?

In one day alone, the following (in green) was published in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and this did not include the incidents where a Bay View student was stabbed on a school bus OR how our daily leisurely walk around our block turned into a confrontation with a group of at least 12 junior high students (boys and girls) running our block, through yards, and then escalated to them throwing rocks and a board at us and threatening to kick our dog. This was not an isolated incident. It has now turned into a daily event....these kids running our streets, harassing people, walking down the middle of the street blocking the way of a car who is trying to just get through and get out of way. They have been known to actually put their hands on those cars and 'dare' them to hit them. And they don't care who's behind the wheel, but they seem to 'feed' on the vulnerability of the elderly or other smaller students trying to just walk home from school without having their lives threatened. But that's natural for them, they are punk-ass little hoodlums.  It's what they know, what they've been taught. If you have a problem, gather as many of your 'own' as you can, because as we all know, they're little chickens unless they are with a gang.....oh yes, how their mentality changes when they walk the streets together; nobody is going to take them on, even the cops...especially if it's only one squad like yesterday. These punks aren't stupid; after all, they KNOW they have our city held captive by their arrogance, brutality and their numbers.

And yes, I will say it here on my blog.....they are Black! I'm through being scared to say it...they are black-ass little punks! I was born, raised and have lived in this city my entire life (60 years) and I would never have considered myself prejudice but how can I NOT be now?  There are no gangs of white kids harassing us. These are kids who don't even live in our area but are bussed in to go to our neighborhood school. It's getting real old...the "you owe me, I deserve it so I will just take it, your skin is white so you deserve to a 'take-down' "attitude. Nothing was handed to us without working for it AND we were brought up knowing what the word RESPECT meant; for yourself and for others. Not with these kids! It quite obvious when a smart-mouthed 7 year-old calls me a 'bitch' right to my face as I'm walking down MY street because I dared to look in his direction.

Wake up Milwaukee!  We are under siege and it's a war. We are going to start fighting to take our neighborhood back. We will not be taking our daily walks without weapons of our own....I can't believe I just wrote that....we have come to the point of arming ourselves to take our dog for a walk around OUR block?

Tomorrow we walk armed with pepper spray, our cell phones, a walking stick and an screeching alarm....gee, doesn't that sound like fun!  Just another leisurely walk around the block with our dog.
