Annual Maier Pumpkin Farm Trip (Part 1)

Saturday is the (I think) 5th Annual Maier Pumpkin Farm Visit and this year it's starting at our house.  Yes, as we speak, I have one of Grandma's special cakes baking in the oven for this fun-filled field trip.  And, of course it's a Halloween cake!  I may have done a post on my "Grandma Cake" but it all started back for some celebration of some kind (a birthday or Christmas) when I baked one of these 'sprinkle' cakes.  Since that first time, I have baked many others.  I can't imagine going to visit the grandkids without one. Good old Pillsbury....they have one for ever holiday or occasion (matching cake and frosting) and I've baked them all!  Because of them, my grandchildren think I bake magic cakes...cakes that never tasted so good.  I told John (age 4) on the phone that I was bringing a 'Grandma Cake' and he gave a "whoop-whoop". Thank you Pillsbury for the sparkle in the eyes and the giggles from my grandchildren when I show up with one of my special cakes. Let me add, that these cakes are REALLY make with love.  I don't have a mixer so I do it the old fashioned way of mixing it in a big ceramic bowl with a spoon and let me tell you, it's not easy getting all those lumps out!
Also, the pumpkin in the photo above was grown in our very own garden. Grandpa had a very nice crop this year.
The oven buzzer just went off so I have to go see if the cake is ready to come out....time lapse, 1.5 minutes....well, the cake is done but a little lopsided but the grandkids won't care.

After all, it's a Grandma Cake!
