Hiding for Years......

Our fan in our attic was making a high-pitched sound so Grandpa dragged in the stepladder and headed up there to see what was going on. In all my cleaning, painting, spackling and going through a whole box of Magic Erasers, I never made it up to the attic. I knew that there was some stuff up there, but I figured that if we haven't needed any of it in 35 years, we didn't need it now......although....there is always that chance that you just might find that one 'treasure'.  And sure enough, here it is!  Now, I don't think I would call this a treasure (I'm not even sure what it is) but I think I can attach some sentimental value to it.  Grandpa and I have been together since we were 16 and we spent a lot of time at carnivals and the State Fair.  And, what does a 16, going on 17, young man do at these events to impress the heck out of his girlfriend?  Throw tons of money at the games to try to win her the biggest prize that they have.  Then they can walk around the fairgrounds with her carrying this huge whatever it is and with him wearing a big smirk on his face.  Ok, I'll admit it, he impressed the heck out of me trying to win the prize for me.....BUT.....$150 later, THIS is what I walk away with?  But, I was madly in love and and thrilled when he deposited this in my arms. He was so sweet; to think that he would spend so much money on me.  Would he do it now? Not on your life!  Oh, we are still madly in love but a little wiser when it comes to money. But I have to admit when he tossed that down from the attic and it landed at my feet, I had to smile remembering back when we were young and foolish.

And, this is not the only 'treasure' up there in the attic.  Grandpa said there are a few more critters up there yet, but he's not sure what they are although he said one is a big red 'thing'.  Heaven knows what THAT is!

Sorry Shelly......no starburst clock )-:
