Pumpkins 2010

We have a "Little House of Horrors" going on in our garden.  Our pumpkin plant started out so cute way back in the spring and then we went to Tennessee for two weeks.  When we came back we checked out the garden to see what went on while we were gone. OMG!!  Our cute little pumpkin plant had grown AND grown and had taken over the garden.  It was now intertwined with the tomato plant, choking off the cucumber plant and heading towards the raspberry patch! The leaves are huge, the vine is thick and actually, it is rather ugly to look at......except for.....the cute little pumpkins that it has surprised us with.  Yes, we have four pumpkins nestled in amongst the vines, marigolds and the border of the box where the plant started in.  I must say that they survived our vacation very well even without watering and the hot, dry spell that Milwaukee had while we were gone. I guess our pumpkin plant likes its little home in our garden with space to spread it's vines even though it has crossed its boundaries and and has taken over the garden to our dismay.  I can't wait to get to Tennessee so Grandpa can build his new garden and entertain the grandkids with what he gets to grow, especially pumpkins!!

Can't wait to set them on our porch at Halloween....even though we hope to be in Tennessee by then!
