Yep, today starts Grandpa's last week before he starts the new chapter of his life.....RETIREMENT!!! I wish I had a few photos of some of the many, many buildings he worked on while on the job. He definitely has left his mark on Milwaukee. Just about anywhere we drive, he can point out the buildings he worked on. It must be an awesome feeling when he thinks back on all the different constructions sites he was a part of......like, Northridge and Southridge (the first huge shopping centers in Milwaukee), the Strong Building where a copper plate, listing all the names of the guys he worked with on that job, is securely fixed up on the roof. And, the copper urns on top of the Pabst Theater downtown that he recreated from old photos.
We may be leaving Milwaukee to retire to our new home in Tennessee but Grandpa is leaving a piece of his talent and hard work scattered throughout Wisconsin. How wonderful is that?
