Spring has Sprung.......

It looks like winter may FINALLY be over for Wisconsin and signs of Spring are popping up all over our yard. So, I grabbed my camera and headed out to see what I could catch some of the plants making their way back for another year.

Above is a baby raspberry plant starting to peek through. Along with this little guy, the bigger, older ones are also starting to sprout and turn green. We have had our raspberry patch for so many years and it's always and adventure to see when kind of crop we will get. A bumper crop is when you have enough to freeze and eat on all winter long. One of Grandpa's favorites.....vanilla ice cream with fresh raspberries. Unfortunately, we will be without our raspberries when we move (they would not travel well) but some lucky person who buys the house is in for a real treat!

Now, this plant may not look the greatest right now (especially with the year-old white dead parts still attached) but it does turn out to be one of the prettiest, fullest plants in my garden along the fence. I wish I could remember the name of it and had more of these.

The lilly patch.....actually, one of the several lilly patches we have. At the last law firm I worked at, someone was thinning out their lillies and was giving them away. I thought, hey why not....they are a perennial and they multiply like 'rabbits'. We have this patch at the corner of our patio but also have some more (bigger ones) on the side of the house by the driveway. Even with no flowers yet, just having the green leave to look at can't help but make you feel that summer is on the way.

This is our neighbor's tree......I just took a picture of it because I was trying to get a shot of the dark clouds moving in. Actually, this tree is a real pain in the neck....if it ain't dropping whirly birds, it dropping something else making a mess. Plus we get to listen to Bill and Cheryl fight over it.....he hates it and she loves it.  As you can see by the size, Cheryl is still winning.

Oh, this is Grandpa looking through the front window while I was taking pictures. Hi Grandpa!!

We have a crabapple tree in our backyard and as you can see, the buds are coming. This tree has been the background for many proms over the years. It always worked out that it was at its prettiest blooming (pink) for prom. This tree holds a lot of memories; one being Becky's 'perch' up there where she would sit and spend hours watching the world go by and and know that it was HER spot!

The rhubarb patch. I was never and really baker but I did manage to bake a few very tastey desserts from our rhubarb plants which originally came from Portage, Wisconsin (Uncle Vic's farm).

Bleeding Hearts.  Now, these have to be my favorite of all of our plants....I just wish they would bloom longer than they do. They are just to left outside our patio door so everytime we let the dogs out, we are graces with their beauty. When we first moved in many years ago, 4 o'clocks were in this spot and we would have bleeding hearts in hanging baskets until I decided that I wanted them on the ground and in bushes. So, here they are. Believe it or not, these three plants cover a lot of space and make for a gorgeous site when you walk out the patio door.

I'm going to miss all these plants but I'm also looking forward to starting fresh and new in Tennessee. I want to have a rose garden....with five different rose bushes in it....one for each of the grandchildren.  I want to be able to pick out each rose bush specifically for each one of of them. And, I'm not worried....I will know when I spot the rose bush for each.
