National Guard Soldiers Say Goodbye

About 30 soldiers from a Wisconsin National Guard unit based in West Bend left home Monday for training and deployment to Iraq.

Members of 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment, will be deployed about a year, including two months of mobilization training at Fort Hood. The unit will support medical evacuation missions in Iraq.
The soldiers are from detachments of Companies C, D and E of the unit, which until recently was part of West Bend-based 832nd Medical Company, a unit of 100 soldiers and nine helicopters. In February, the 832nd reorganized into seven separate units.
About 700 Wisconsin National Guard members are currently on active duty, mostly in Iraq.
You are in our thoughts and prayers to come home safely....thank you for serving our country.
