I have knitted or crocheted each of our grandchildren a baby blanket and thought I was finished after Izzy was born but 'never say never'! Here are some pictures of the one I just completed for Shelly's upcoming arrival in February. I started it before we knew it was going to be a girl so picking out the color was fun; even if we would have known she did not want pink or blue and suggested apple green. So, off to Michaels Grandpa and I went and he picked out the color and it was in Vanna's yarn which I love to work with. Perfect choice!! I also went with a different pattern than with the others which were your zig-zag design. I had tried this pattern for a friend when she was expecting and it turned out so nice that I thought I would use it again for Shelly's. It's smaller than the others but I think the yarn will hold up better than the kind I used for those.
Well, we now know it's going to be a girl (as of now....Lexi Anne) so when I finished it, I looked at this green blanket and thought it needed to look a little more 'girly' so I added the ribbons. And, the Grandma tag was the final touch.
I have it from great authority that there will be no more grandchildren coming our way and I have to admit that I will miss creating these special gifts. So my mind is wondering and I'm thinking maybe winter hats for all of them for next Christmas!!! I better start planning now which means shopping for yarn.....yeah!!
