The Titanic has sailed into Pigeoun Forge!! And, I can't wait to get there to hop aboard and check out every inch of it. The story of this first luxury liners is one of my favorites and I could watch the movie until my eyes cross.....not the remake with Leanardo 'what's-his-name'....but the ORIGINAL version. Black and white and with one nail-biting scene after another (that giant iceburg!). The heart-breaking ending when not everyone makes it into the lifeboats; people who gave their lives for others, husbands and wives separated and having to say goodbye forever. I saw the movie for the first time when I was a kid growing up on our little black and white T.V. and every chance I got to see it again, I would jump at it. Actually, I never watched the updated version and really have no plans on doing so......the true story is told so well in the first one and that's how I want to remember it.
Shelly got some free passes and took the girls but since they are just 5 and 7, all they were really interested in was being able to touch the iceburg. They didn't really care to read everything that was available or look at all the props, etc. So, when we get to Tennessee, I plan on piling Shelly into the car and we are going to go spend an entire afternoon on that boat and we are going to check it out from staff to stern (or whatever the front and back of the boat are called). Leave the 'land-lovers' at home....we are off to our very own adventure at sea and when they finally kick us off, we'll be home.
It's a date........Mom!
