Early on Mother's Day, I opened up the drapes in the livingroom to find Carl taking in a few 'rays' on the front lawn. It's been a long time since he has made an appearance and I was beginning to think that maybe we had seen the last of him even though Grandpa said that he could hear him singing once in a while so we knew he was close by. And, for once in my life, I was 'camera ready'. Battery charged and ready to start shooting. So, I knelt down by the window and followed Carl as he hip-hopped across the front lawn, picking up tidbits of whatever as he went along. I really did think that I would have spooked him but he didn't seem to notice me in the window clicking away and he actually made it all the way up to the front porch. I almost thought he was going to ring the doorbell.....ok, maybe not but stranger things have happened at this house. We once had a squirrel who tapped on the patio door looking for a treat. Like they say "Feed them and they will come and stay....and stay".
I have to say that Carl made this Mother's Day pretty special. Sometimes you just have to take the time to notice and appreciate the simple things in life so for me.....it was the best 10 minutes I have spent in a long time.
Take care Carl and come back soon......
