Is it just me......

Or are people driving like IDIOTS out there?  It is no wonder that there is so much 'road rage'; how can you not get enraged by the way some people think that they OWN the roads, that the roads were build personally JUST for them and that if you don't like it, GET out of their way!! I remember waaaaaaay back when I first got my drivers license, fellow drivers were polite, courteous caring people.  WHAT the heck happened??  Now, when you get behind the wheel of your car, you are practically putting your LIFE on the line.  Really!  Drivers running yellow lights (and even red), U-turns on controlled intersections, not pulling over for emergency vehicles, tailgating and just plain abnoxious behavior with all the horns blasting, radios blaring and the hand gestures!  And, do we have speed limits anymore?  At least, I'm under the impression that we still do.  Years ago when I was doing 60 down Good Hope Road (40 mph speed limit), I got pulled over and ticketed. Now, if you aren't going at least 50, I guarantee that you will be either passed on both sides and/or run over.  And, not a cop in sight.  PEOPLE, this is not Nascar!!  We live on 78th Street and we can sit on our back patio and can actually HEAR the cars racing up and down 76th Street!  That's TWO blocks away!  It's to the point that when we hear brakes and tires screeching, we brace ourselves and wait to hear a crash. (But then again, that's nothing for us.....we can also sit on our patio and hear "pops", look at each other and wonder....car backfiring or gun).

I have to tell you, there are some days that I just don't want to deal with it and leave my car sit.  Maybe we should go back to walking where we need to go but then again, I would be scared to cross the street on foot.  Even in a controlled intersection with WALK and DON'T WALK signs (now they have these cute little hand signals)....do not think that you have the right-of-way. Gosh, when you think about it....you might still be safer in a car!

It's a jungle out there!!!
