Squiggy Came to Visit......

It's been a long and a long time since Squiggy has come to visit.  You remember Squiggy...he's our favorite neighborhood squirrel.  I first spotted Squiggy (and a few of his friends) last summer when he first appeared on our patio early one morning.  Being the animal lover that I am, I started tossing peanuts out there in hopes of catching him grab one, smile at me and spread the word to all his friends that peanuts were being served on the Schmidt patio.  I soon realized that I was not dealing with just any ordinary squirrel.  I would wait and wait, while doing my jigsaw puzzle on the kitchen table for him to come snatch up a peanut while I was watching with camera in hand.  But I was not to be that lucky.  Oh, he did come and get the peanuts, hours later when I had given up watching for him.  When I did go back later to glance out the patio door, all the peanuts were gone!! I finally gave up throwing peanuts out there, winter came and Squiggy was forgotten.

Well, early yesterday I looked out our front window and right below me in our front flower garden, there he was!  He was very busy digging around as the picture above shows. I figure that the was digging around for some of the peanuts he had hidden last fall and he really was "up close and personal".  So I slowly backed away from the window so as to not scare him, ran and got my camera but OF COURSE by the time I got back, he was gone!! So, all I had left of my sighting of Squiggy was these holes he had dug.  Hey, at least it proves that he was here!  Doesn't it?

Haven't given up on getting his picture....I have more peanuts!!

Are you sure it's not your imaginary Squiggys?? LOL

I had a Blue Jay that would come and tap on my window every morning around 7:00am for a week in the spring. This happened 2 years in a row then never agian. No one else saw him and said I was dreaming.

Oh no, I've seen him....in fact, I've seen several of his friends too. Years ago, we actually had one that looked right into our patio door...sort of like your Blue Jay. Maybe it was Squiggy's grandfather!
