I consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to chocolate. In fact, if anybody in the health profession were to ask my opinion, I would lobby for it to be made one of the basic food groups. Case in point, do you hear about anybody CRAVING an orange or a piece of cheese or a bagel. Exactly!! But, take it from me, you can CRAVE chocolate! Ask any chocoholic if they wouldn't get in a car and challenge a blizzard for a trip to the nearest store, gas station or corner Stop 'n Shop for that Hershey bar or brownie or chocolate ice cream. I believe it's an addiction and I know an addiction because I used to smoke. Why I can be crabbier than heck, shove a chocolate kiss in my mouth and suddenly everything is right with the world. Why just knowing I have my stash of chocolate in the freezer makes me sleep better at night and dream lovely dreams. I am a little fussy when it comes to the chocolate that I will eat so it's got to be the genuine product; not that crappy stuff that CLAIMS to be real chocolate. This brings me to what I think is the best chocolate product ever created years and years ago....M&M's.....and still going strong!!
Where else can you get such a yummy snack product with such a variety? I have been eating M&M's for many years and I can actually say that I have not come across an M&M I haven't liked. Whether it be the plain variety, peanut, almond, dark chocolate, peanut butter, crispy.....even the special flavors they throw at us once in a while (limited editions) are great. Right now, they have the coconut ones out there. OMG!! I ate a bag (the BIG bag) of those in 3 days! I also remember the dark chocolate cherry flavor that was around for a while. Heck, I bought a big box of those at Sam's and passed them out at work. It sure made 5:00 p.m. come around faster for all of us. I don't think Hershey's can MAKE a bad tasting M&M. I truly have my doubts on that one. They must have special "tasters"....now there's a job I could really get into!!
And, don't even get me started on the cute M&M people! It's a whole other side of this candy that makes it so much fun; the advertising (they sponsor the cutest little Nascar) and the commercials (I love the one with "Red" running on the conveyor at a supermarket). What I love is that they didn't give them cute names but kept them simple and just call them by the color that they are... Red, Green, Yellow. And what other candy company has a nationwide vote for the next color to be added to their group? What other candy comes out with red and green for Christmas, pastels for Easter, orange and black for Halloween and even pink for Breast Cancer and now bags of red, pink and white for Valentine's Day? You can even go to their website and custom order for a special occasion and have just about anything printed on them. Let's face it, Hershey knows what they are doing with marketing their cute little chocolate candy because I have bought enough of them in my lifetime and had fun doing it!
Which reminds me....I need to hit the stores for some more coconut ones to stash in the freezer before they are gone forever!
