So, you get your kids through school, through all the zillion number of fundraisers they were involved in for raising money for one thing or another. That doesn't even include Girl Scout cookies. The fundraisers were really heavy in elementary school for our girls, especially since they went to a private school and we had to raise money and pay for everything. When they got to high school, it eased up a bit and would say that finally in their junior or senior year, they were no longer "into" raising money for their school; they just wanted to get the heck out and get on with their lives.
Then they have kids of their own and we think "Boy, payback is great"; now it's their turn to take all those fundraising forms to their place of work and bug their friends and neighbors. However, a new group of easy targets emerge.....Grandma and Grandpa! Now, you tell me that if you were to receive the forms shown above that you could turn down your two adorable granddaughters? Look at the messages Trinity and Madison put on the forms; "I miss you" and "I love you" (with a heart no less). How can a grandparent NOT purchase something especially after seeing the yellow sticker that says they picked us as their "Extra Prize Sponsors"? So what else could we do? Grandpa and I looked through the order form for the cheapest magazine subscriptions we could find that captured our interest. He picked out some aquarium magazine (I think he plans on getting back into raising tropical fish again once we move to Tennessee) and I found "Dog Fancy". I really wanted ABC Soap Magazine but that cost almost double the amount so I will have to be happy reading about dogs and their latest fads instead of General Hospital.
So, we will be having two new magazines being delivered to our house and everytime they are, we will think of Trinity and Madison and wonder what the heck we are going to do when John and Isabelle start school. How many fundraisers will be hitting our mail box from the grandkids? But, I guess it comes with the territory and we won't run out of stuff to read!
There's a lot of years ahead of us so I still have hopes for my ABC Soap Digest.....
