Daytime Television

As you know, I am looking for a job right now.  I realized today that I need to find this job, not only for the obvious reasons but because I am starting to ENJOY daytime television!  Did you know that Dr. Phil has a 'family' that he has followed for over 5 years; a father, mother and two daughters.  He has followed them through teen pregnancy, drug abuse, infidelity and that's all that I know about...I'm sure there is more but I've only seen a few episodes.  However, I've seen enough to realize that it has hooked me.  One day Shelly made the mistake of calling me while one of those episodes was on and I told her that I couldn't talk; that Dr. Phil had his 'family' on and I had to go and hung up - but I did say the usual "Luv ya, Bye" - I mean, I'm not totally GONE yet.  This past Monday, I had to go downtown to take the Civil Service typing test; have applied for two positions with the City of Milwaukee.  Would you believe it was at 2:40 p.m.!  That's in the middle of General Hospital and twenty minutes before Dr. Phil was coming on with his 'family' episode and it was going to be a scream fest (so they teased us with on Friday).  Well, now really.....who plans these things, these tests, these job opportunities?  Obviously not General Hospital or Dr. Phil fans!  And me without having that nifty cable recording doo-dad that Shelly has to help me solve my problem!  Nuts!  (General Hosptial 2:00 p.m. and Dr. Phil 3:00 p.m Mon-Fri.)

And don't even get me going on Judge Judy.  Boy, has she turned into a real 'witch' since I was watching it a few years ago!  The poor people barely get a chance to get a word in to explain their cases and she's jumping on them "That's baloney" (it's her favorite come-back at the moment).  She is arrogant, snotty and just plain RUDE!  I am sick of her little white lace collar.  And what's with her trusty bailiff, Bert, who just stands there working crossword puzzle books.  I hate it when she talks to him as if the other people aren't even there or involved.  She makes them look like idiots!!  Gotta love it!  (Judge Judy 4:00 p.m. Mon-Fri.)

I love Court T.V........not the Judge Judy type but the one with the real life cases.  "In Session".  Well, actually, I used to like it until they changed everything and took away my favorite commentators.  It hasn't been the same since.  And, now it seems there are more commercials than before.  I turned it on first thing in the morning one day and was promised a verdict; the jury had come back with a verdict the night before.  Do you know that they did not announce the verdict until 12:00!!  Re-hash and re-hash all the testimony, opening and closing statements and the commentators they have now are DORKS!!  I don't feel bad if I decide to sleep in and miss that anymore......that is, unless some really 'hot' case comes along that I just can't miss. I guess I can put up with the dorks for the suspense of a good LIFE trial.  (In Session 8:00 a.m. Mon-Fri)

That's actually the extent of my daytime T.V. because as we all know I'm addicted to Facebook and am in rehab.  I think it's going well; I am down to just one farm, Farmville (have eliminated quite a few of the animals) and one fish tank, Fishville and have kept myself under control from starting another tank.  I did sort of 'fall off the wagon' over Valentine's Day when Farmville had this contest to see how many valentines you could collect from your friends; I was relentless, but I did take 1st place for my group of 31 friends (collecting almost 500)!  But I'm happy to say that I am back on track and actually find myself turning it off or not even wanting to do farming or fishing at all during the day and I'm working up to a WHOLE weekend! My sponsor is so proud of me.  (Facebook - 24 hours a day)

My name is Barbara and daytime T.V. is turning my mind to MUSH!!  Give me a job!!
