I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I should be used to the winter weather here by now, wouldn't you think? NOT!! In fact, it seems that every year I hate it more; probably because I've gotten a taste of the milder winter weather in Tennessee (even though this year, they have been hit harder than usual) and am really looking forward to some day being able to say "35 degrees is cold here" instead of "10 below 0 wind-chill factor".
Tennessee has nothing on us when it comes to winter weather.
Take the snow. They get snow there. I know because I was there in December when it snowed and Trinity and Madison went crazy with excitement! We bundled them up as best as we could and shoved them out the door....even their mom got into it. I, on the otherhand, stayed inside and took pictures through the window. I like Tennessee snow. It snows in the morning and by supper time, it's melted. Now I can live with that. I am NOT a "snowbunny". I don't LIKE snow. I don't like driving in it, shoveling it, snowboarding, skiing, making snow angels, building snowmen, having snowball fights or even looking at it through the window. What is with these people who think that it's so 'beautiful'. Compared to what?? Sure, it may look white, pretty and fluffy for the first day and then it looks like crap. It starts to get dirty looking and you can't manage to get in and out of your car without getting salt on your pants legs. I hate that!! Tennessee snow is gone before it has a chance to look crappy; now that's nice. You get the 'pretty' without the 'dirty'.
I'm sure I loved snow when I was younger but now that I have my AARP card, I don't want to deal with it! My body doesn't either; by bones ache and I swear that on some days I feel like I will never be warm again. I'm tired of being wet, cold and miserable. And, it's only January!!
I can only hope this is our last winter in Wisconsin....but first we have to sell our house which might be hard to do since the "For Sale" sign is buried in snow!
