"Smith" Originals..........

Would anyone ever toss a "Picasso"?  A "Franco" (he's an artist on General Hospital who's after Jason at the moment...great story line)?  I don't think so!!  That is why these beautiful pieces of art will be hanging on our refrigerator for a very long time.  (I once left little fingerprints on a mirror for over a year because they made my heart skip a beat everytime I looked at them; a remembrance of a grandchild visit).  Let's get one thing out of the way before we go any further.....I AM A GRANDMOTHER!  And, you do not mess with the relationship between a Grandma and her grandchildren!  Being a grandmother is the ultimate; it just doesn't get better!  I'm sure all the grandmothers out there reading this will agree.  I couldn't wait to be a grandma.  I would have married off my daughters at 16 (well, maybe 18) if it would have guaranteed me a grandchild. But they wouldn't cooperate. In fact, I think we should be able to skip raising the 'kids' and go right to the 'grandkids'.  What a concept!! Get all the perks and none of the headaches!

Anyhow, when Trinity and Madison were here visiting over Christmas, they gifted us with the above works of art; self-portraits of a sort along with a page ripped out of a coloring book.  Notice the detail on the drawings....they put glasses on me and their mother!  All the girls have dresses and PopPop doesn't. One of the drawings even includes one of our dogs, Sparkles.  And, the backward handwriting so it looks like a mirrored image.  What talent!!  I love the 'butterfly hearts" and the rainbow of colors on the candycanes!

These are true 'gifts' which you hang onto for a very long time; if not forever.  These are a part of them that they left behind to remind us of our wonderful Christmas visit.  Like I said, they will be displayed and enjoyed for many days to come.  And like those fingerprints on the mirror, they will bring a smile to my face and the warm fuzzy feeling in my heart....things that will remain even after the drawings have been handled, torn or even lost.  And.....THAT'S what being a Grandma is all about!!

Now, that I scanned them for this blog....I must go and hang them back up!
